This is Ellie. Her story is of a brave young lady who rescued her from a dreadful life and potentially falling into the wrong hands again, onto her road to recovery, now in our care.

A young mum of 2 very young children answered an advert on the internet for a healthy 3 year old lively pug. She turned up to find a very distressed much older pug, riddled with fleas, with large lumps on her body and had been used as a breeding machine. The young mum made the decision to part with hundreds of pounds just to get her out of there as she didn’t have the heart to leave her.

Ellie was taken straight to the vet, which costed even more than she could afford but she felt she needed to be seen immediately. She then rang us to ask whether PDWRA would take her in so she would be safe forever.

So far, Ellie’s medical issues are many, from eye ulceration, teeth needing extracting, to severe BOAS, lumps that could be cysts or tumours plus a large hernia hanging between her legs. She was covered in flea dirt with overgrown nails so received her first grooming in the loving care of her fosterer in a safe, warm home. She is scared by raised men’s voices and the back door being shut if she is outside – We believe she used to be shut outside on concrete for up to 15 hours a day. Ellie didn’t even possess a harness or lead when she was collected. 😔

Ellie can’t be exercised either until she has surgery. This is where we need your help please!
Any donation large or small, will add up to help Ellie to receive the treatment she needs, quickly, to ease her discomfort and start to heal. Our vet bills are increasing every month as more pugs like Ellie are needing our help.
