THE BEST NEWS to report!
Following last week’s appeal for a home without other dogs or cats, Bella was applied for straight away, and has been perfectly-matched to this home. 💞
Her new Mum & Dad have experience of a pug’s mobility issues and the time at home to care for Bella.
Our wonderful volunteer transporters were lined up so that by this weekend she was there! We couldn’t be happier for them. 🤗🐾

A Tribute to Percy!
This photo of Percy was taken the day before he passed away this month.
~~~~~
Percy’s Mum Nicky, shared photos of Percy and Penny with his extended PDWRA family on Social Media every week, for Tongue Out Tuesday. #tongueouttuesday
More recently Miss Pip joined the family, their new little sister.
They will all miss him terribly, and we will miss those weekly photos that brightened every Tuesday morning for us. More recently the trio would be wondering if it was still hot outside or whether they’d be getting out in the garden or did they have to stay nice and cool in the house? Whatever the weather they always hoped all their friends enjoyed their Tongue Out Tuesday ❤️
Percy celebrated his Birthday last month, Nicky says, “We thought he was 14, but the vets had him down as 15. Thanks to PDWRA he spent over seven years here with Penny and me, he will be much missed, he was such as a good little boy. Penny, Pip and I would like the thank everyone for their kind words. They gave us such great comfort at this sad time.”
Beloved Percy, Penny and Pip!
Bella is still looking for the special, forever home she so deserves!
Do you know anyone who’s circumstances may have changed or who has no other pet companions and could welcome Bella into their heart and home?
Please share this or spread the word for her.
A faithful and loving 7 year-old, Bella just needs a welcoming, comfortable home with a responsible parent to lavish kindness and affection on her.
Bella’s spinal condition, first became evident 3 years ago though is still very agile and energetic enjoying two, 20 – 30 minute wheel walks a day, and one in the buggy. She experiences no pain, so is not on any medication.
She doesn’t like to compete for her owner’s attention though and has reacted to other dogs in the home, usually at meal and walk preparation times and may perceive very young children as competition too.
Bella is house trained. She wears little boots if walking on tarmac or hard surfaces. She’s not a barker, when she tries no sound comes out! 😍😊
She really is the sweetest, most contented, little girl who would pay you back in spades! 💞🐾
Please apply via our website, referencing BELLA in your application.
Thank You! 🤗🐾
BELLA, is looking for her FOREVER HOME!
We’ve been following Barry’s weight loss since he came to PDWRA at over 12kg some months ago. His target to aim for was 9kg so that he’d be in great shape to enjoy summer. This gorgeous boy achieved it this month, weighing in at 8.95kg!!
Barry’s harness was falling off at one point but here he is, enjoying the weather leading up to the heatwave, with his encouraging grumble!
Barry has really fallen on his paws and is living the dream with his PDWRA family.
Freddie is a confident, energetic 4 year old boy with a very loving nature. He needs a forever home in Northern Ireland.
Are you an experienced dog-owner who could offer this?
Freddie does have a neurological condition which he’s had since birth, nystagmus, which he manages well. It causes his eyes to flicker and his head to wobble. He came to us entire, and with a chronic ear infection which would have caused him a lot of pain and unsurprisingly contributed to dominance issues with other dogs and snapping when trying to distract or treat him. However, since he has been neutered, he is increasingly calmer .
If you are able to look after Freddie’s needs, prevent the infection returning and manage any pack dynamics confidently, then PDWRA and Freddie would love to hear from you.
Please apply to adopt him, referencing Freddie in your application, at: https://pugwelfare-rescue.org.uk/adopting-a-pug/
