Thanks for fundraising for pugs, Lynn!

Thank you to PDWRA pug owner Lynn, who took it upon herself to hold a fundraising stall at her local village fun day. Here she is with daughter Gemma who raised and donated over Β£100 from their kind efforts! πŸ€—

Lynn has a grumble of her own at home, including a deaf pug from adopting a handsome father & son pair.

Their thoughtful, generosity and support, is much appreciated by the PDWRA & our pugs in need! πŸ’žπŸΎ

Golden Girls, Pepper & Ruby!

In the blue chariot we have two lovely golden girls. At the front is Pepper, collected from the RSPCA on a cold December evening.
Pepper is 14, unable to walk, with recurrent urine infections and is doubly incontinent. PDWRA looked after most of her healthcare expenses while her devoted foster Mum, Helen, gave her the care she needed. We looked for an equally dedicated forever home but foster Mum decided to adopt Pepper and there truly couldn’t be a more suitable home for her!

To the rear of Pepper in her chariot, is Ruby, collected by the same PDWRA Area-Coordinator from a family home. Ruby will also soon be 14. She has mobility issues and struggles to walk plus is similarly, doubly incontinent. Helen offered to travel cross-country to collect Ruby to foster and is one of those special people who can’t do enough to help including incurring a lot of costs herself. Ruby’s surrender was a very sad experience, as her parents had owned her since a puppy. Sadly, they had a young child who was very ill and any risk of infection from Ruby was too great. However, these two dears became the best companions for each other and Ruby will be remaining there, in her forever home too!

Without the most amazing foster carers, who often drop everything to help pugs in need, follow veterinary management of their care diligently and helped with the donations we receive throughout the year, we wouldn’t be able to give the best lives for deserving souls like these wonderful old dears!

Please donate whenever you can, it will always be appreciated!πŸ’•πŸΎ

Hughie, from naughty to therapy dog!

One of our lovely adoptive homes now, who had sadly lost their beloved pug Pippa to cancer at only 6 years old, hadn’t ever considered a rescue pug, but were put in touch with their local PDWRA Coordinator Jane. She told them about Hughie, who had a brother Louie, both surrendered by an elderly owner who had them since puppies but could no longer cope with them. They were very active & naughty together, πŸ˜† though could be independent from each other too!

They went to see Hughie at his foster home & it was love at first sight! Hughie’s adoptive Mum tells us:
❀️ Hughie soon settled in with us; however, it soon became apparent that Hughie needed a little more training; he hated skateboards motorbikes other dogs trundling suitcases and the doorbell! He has improved, but the doorbell is still a work in progress! 😬 He really is the most loving boy though and I thought he would make a great therapy dog. I found a care home that would take him and Hughie was assessed by the vet (fortunately no doorbell at the vets! πŸ˜…). He passed with flying colours, but then Covid happened.

I’m looking forward to visiting the home once I am able to, with Hughie. I’m sure the residents will love him as much as we do. Meantime, he now has an older brother Frank and they absolutely adore each other! ❀️
