Adoption
We’re delighted to be able to re-open again to all new adoption applications following a necessary, temporary pause to handling general applications. This has allowed us to escalate pug-specific adoptions, shortening waiting times for the large number of pugs we had in our care & on to their forever homes.
This also meant we needed to rehome more older pugs, those with very individual, as well as special-needs & bonded-pairs for which we tend to receive fewer applications for.
Please see our Adoption section to apply, also our blog & social-media for the latest pug-specific homes appeals.

Fostering
More than ever, we are in need of additional foster homes, particularly those that can support age-related or special-needs, or accommodate bonded-pairs, as the number of pugs surrendered to us this year has been especially high.
If you could offer a caring home, short or long-term, depending on the needs of the pug, with PDWRA’s ongoing support with vet costs covered, and in-house expertise available to help you, please apply.
Our Fostering section provides full details and considerations for fostering, particular areas of the country where we’d welcome more new foster homes from, as well as the online application form.

Surrendering
We are very pleased to announce a phased re-opening, where we are available to receive surrendered pugs again from PDWRA’s busiest region, the South East. They will be matched to applicants nation-wide.
The difficult decision for our temporary closure was taken in order to provide the best welfare solutions to the particularly high number of pugs in our care at the time requiring rehoming and rehabilitation, similar to other rescue organisations.
Please read our Surrendering section for further details.

Volunteering
There are a number of ways that you can volunteer to support PDWRA, including:
- Home checking, by assessing adoptive or foster applicants in your near locality, according to rehoming requirements.
- Transporting involves the collection, delivery and safe transportation of a PDWRA pug to its new home.
There are also vacancies for specific, dedicated roles in the charity, that you can apply for.
If you would like to find out how you can get involved or to apply to volunteer, please see our Volunteering section.
