Hi everyone! I’m Buster and I’ve just turned 3 years old. I’m what’s known as a Frug – a Pug/Frenchie cross. 💞
My foster mum tells me that I’m the best of both breeds – I’m friendly, funny, affectionate and charming like a pug and strong, confident, full of energy, and a little bolshie, like a Frenchie. I’m also single coated so I’m easy to groom and don’t shed anywhere near as much as a full pug.
My foster mum says that I have some additional needs, but I don’t care about that as all I want to do is give kisses to everyone, play and live my best life with my doggy friends.
Apparently, I have something called IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) which is a spinal condition that sometimes causes the discs in my back to slip out of place.
I’ve had a couple of flare ups where I was a poorly boy and couldn’t use my back legs at all and I had to wear a nappy like a baby. I’m feeling much better now though and I can walk and run around the garden, and I don’t wee or poop indoors any more! My foster mum says I’m completely house-trained, apart from when I eat my dinner, get excited or get picked up. I just can’t help leaking a little bit and so sometimes I wear a belly band and everything stays lovely and clean.
My foster mum says that most of my progress has come from having weekly hydrotherapy sessions that the lovely charity has paid for and daily physiotherapy sessions that my mum does with me at home. The physiotherapy will need to be continued in my new forever home so that my legs don’t get bad again. 🐶
Everyone says I’m a really good brave boy as I could only walk 55 metres on the underwater treadmill at first but now I can manage 127 metres!
I’m described as a big, playful, bouncy bundle of happiness as I love EVERYONE. Men, women, children, babies – they ALL need kisses from me. I love attention, fuss and cuddles. I love other dogs and I get over excited and want to say hello to every single dog I meet whilst out on my walks, so I sometimes have to be restrained.
I’d love to have a forever home with at least one young playful doggy brother or sister so I can have lots of fun with them (but not too rough and all play will need to be monitored) and sleep with them as well. 🏡
I love to play with my toys and will be coming to my forever home with my emotional support squeaky reindeer. I’m great with cats but may intimidate shy ones if they’re not used to my bolshie nature. 🐾🐾
Even though I might look and act like a big strong, happy, energetic boy, my forever family must remember that my poorly spine will always be vulnerable and will need to be protected. My back legs sometimes slide out from under me when I turn corners. I love to run around in the garden and I love my walks (no more than an hour at a time and always wearing my Pawz rubber booties if on hard pavements) but I can’t be let off lead in case I hurt myself chasing and playing with other dogs. I must also never be allowed to jump up on furniture or climb stairs.
Because of my health issues, the lovely lady at the charity said that I’m a Gifted Adoption, which means you don’t have to pay for me to come and live with you. My new family will have all my existing conditions supported financially by PDWRA and they will help with any new health concerns. This means that you can just focus on giving me my best home ever!

I’m a big boy compared to my foster siblings but that certainly doesn’t stop me trying to sit on my foster mum’s lap…
I’m pretty self-sufficient and I’m happy to sit or lay down alone, but as soon as you move I’ll be right there following you, desperate to see what you’re doing and wondering why it doesn’t involve me. 👀
I’m a bit of a lazy boy and am looking for a quiet, calm home where I can enjoy gentle, short walks. Long, energetic walks aren’t really for me. I’m a healthy boy and recently had something called BOAS surgery, which has helped me breathe a whole lot better. I’ve also been neutered.
I can live with or without any doggy brothers or sisters, I’m happy either way as I pretty much ignore my foster siblings anyway! I’m not fazed by cats either, although I might sometimes chase them and want to play. 🐈⬛
I’m good with little people but I do get excited and will jump up and try to lick their faces. I’m a bit of an escape artist and will ‘investigate’ open windows, I’ll also try to open food cupboards and scavenge the bins… 🗑️
I’m a very happy, loving boy but I’m REALLY scared of cars and will get very stressed if I have to travel in one. I’m just really happy being at home, so why would I need to get in one regularly anyway?
I love to play with toys and my fave thing to do is to pick one up, or alternatively a dirty sock or my food bowl, and bring it to you so you can see what a clever boy I am! I love to chase planes up in the sky too, I’m sure I’ll be able to catch one… one day! ✈️
Hello everyone, my name is Apple, and I am a very cute and loving 3-year-old boy. I’m very energetic and love my walks, currently three walks a day! I’m very good at walking 🙂
My foster mum says I’m a loving lap pug, I love sitting on her knee and cuddling and I’m also great at following her around the house. I just love humans, I bond quickly and just love to be close to them, but I can also be left home alone for a couple of hours while my human pops to the shops. 🍐🍒🌽
I used to live with cats, and my foster mum has cats too, so I wouldn’t mind living with cats again, but I don’t want to live with other dogs, so I really need a new family without any. I sometimes get very grumpy with dogs in my home, so I need to be the only dog. 🐶
I’ve never lived with children, but children (9yrs plus) have visited and I thought they were okay, so I’d be okay if children would like to visit my new family and me. I’m not quite fully house trained, I never poop inside, but I can sometimes mark, so my new family will need to work on this with me. My foster mum says I respond well to routine and consistency, she’s just got me some bellybands as part of my training, they’re nice and comfy! I’ve also recently been neutered, so she thinks this may help with my marking.
I like toys and I love a Kong filled with doggy peanut butter. Because I am so energetic and good at walking, I stay nice and trim! 🥜
Ruby (estimated 12 years) and Dee Dee (estimated 10 years) are a delightful Mother and Daughter bonded pairing. The girls arrived in our care following the passing of their elderly owner. 💞
Ruby is a wonderful older lady, with huge spirit and a very affectionate nature. She will want to be wherever you are, and being deaf, will watch you closely for cues, Her eyesight is good. Currently weighing 9.4kg and aiming for 8kg, Ruby still needs to lose some weight and will need an adopter to manage her diet and provide gentle daily exercise.
Ruby does have reduced lung capacity and long-term bronchitis. She will cough when stressed or excited. She’s received diagnostic radiographs and the vet has advised no medication, but instead, weight loss, a calm environment and gentle exercise.
Ruby is currently enjoying a short daily potter, then a ride in the dog buggy, which she enjoys. She may have the odd wee indoors overnight, but this improves once in a good routine.
Dee Dee is sprightly for her years and very affectionate. She currently weighs a very healthy 7.1kg and loves her walks.Dee Dee is also deaf, so allowances will need to be made for this. She is also very good at watching for cues and looks to her Mother for support and guidance at times.
Ruby and Dee Dee have beautiful kind, calm temperaments, and will make a suitable adopter very happy. They are currently living in foster with cats and a four-year-old female pug without issue. They can live as only dogs, or with another kind and respectful dog or two. They would like a good amount of lap time.
Ruby and Dee Dee are tightly bonded and will fret if separated from each other. 🐶🐶
Max is a big, boisterous, ‘goofy’, full of energy 2-year-old male pug!
Before being surrendered to the PDWRA 6 weeks ago, Max had spent most of his life living in a kennel in the back yard. He hadn’t had much human or other animal contact and slept and ate outside.
Initially, this was a challenge for his foster family because Max thought the house was his toilet area, and he would drag his fluffy beds to the garden to sleep! With a lot of coaxing, patience and constant ‘treat training’ Max is now 95% toilet trained and only has the occasional accident. 🐶
Max enjoys the younger pug company and is learning how to play now too. He is still nervous of new people coming to the house and barks at cars when out walking. He isn’t keen on other dogs approaching him and will sometimes pull, and he’s also not keen on sudden loud noises, such as hoovers, banging or lots of shouting.
Max already really loves his foster family but can be wary of new visitors to the house. We’d suggest he wouldn’t be best placed with children under 10 years of age, as he can be very bouncy when excited as is still a strong young puppy.
To help Max to continue his new journey of discovering what it’s like to be a proper loved and cherished pug, he needs a patient, consistent routine whilst adapting to his new environment. He’s now well on his way to understanding that people can actually be a wonderful source of love and comfort, which is lovely to see. 💞
