Leaving a Legacy to PDWRA

Where there’s a Will, there’s a way to help PDWRA’s Pugs in Need.

Would you consider leaving a legacy to PDWRA in your Will?

We are hugely dependent on legacies to help us meet veterinary bills for our rescued pugs.

In 2019, one of our busiest years ever, the bills were over £223,000.  However, every year more pugs need our help plus veterinary costs are rising so annual bills exceed £250,000.

Remember that any funds left to a registered charity are free of inheritance tax. Your solicitor will be able to advise on wording, but we would suggest something along the lines of:

I give the sum of £x to THE PUG DOG WELFARE AND RESCUE ASSOCIATION (Registered Charity Number 276067) of: Lytchett House, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6FA, United Kingdom, and I declare that the receipt of the person professing to be the treasurer or other properly appointed official of the charity shall be a valid discharge to my trustees.

DID YOU KNOW
that if you leave just ten percent of your net estate to charity then the inheritance tax rate on the remainder of your estate is reduced from 40% to 36%?

If you are leaving significant amounts to charity, then do check with your solicitor how you can make sure you take advantage of the lower tax rate.

In some circumstances you can give more to charity AND more to your other beneficiaries by this means. The only loser is the tax man!
